Historic Carriage District in Santa Maria CA – Real Estate Market Update

Nestled in the heart of downtown Santa Maria is the Historic Carriage District; one of Santa Maria’s oldest and most charismatic neighborhoods. Each home is unique in design and some date back to the early 1900’s. These older homes are a true labor of love in this well kept and established neighborhood. The Santa Maria Valley Historical Society Museum has even dedicated a pamphlet on the Historic Carriage District called “A Walk Through History,” and I created a video about the neighborhood as well. There is a significant amount ofSanta Maria history in this neighborhood. The Carriage District lies on both sides of Speed Street, between Broadway and Miller and it is anchored by theSanta Maria Inn and Santa Maria High School’s Ethel Pope Auditorium. The Carriage District is also close to popular attractions, shopping and dining.

Hi Tni,

An interesting presentation of a neighborhood.

Even the name is intriguing, as I can imagine carriages coming down the street bringing the residents home at the end of the day

I see a craftsman style bungalow on the block - one of my favorite California home designs.

Hi Tni, your market is well represented here, and your report is clear and concise. Historic homes appeal to a few people, but those few are avid about them.

How cute these are!! I remember when Laguna Beach used to be like this, now it's all over-updated....looks like a bad replica of Tuscany now.

Hi Tni,  It looks like Santa Maria has taken a price drop from the heady days.  Speed street is an interesting name for a residential street...
